The designs for my large scale works, either as patterns or my original drawings, are laid across photo background paper on a cardboard-protected table top and people around the table cut with Xacto knives through both layers. Larger designs are scrolled as finished parts are moved off the table so other areas can be cut. During the cutting, music, readings, and discussions focus on the themes for a meaningful experience, often culminating in a gasp of awe as the completed images are raised and everyone can see what they have made.
My art has taken me (and often my husband) across the country from San Francisco to New York state, as far north as Kotzebue, Alaska, as far south as Cuernavaca, Mexico, and worldwide, as far as Inner Mongolia, Nanjing, and Xi’an, China.
I am pretty much retired from this work now, as drawing huge designs on the floor is too hard on me, (on hands and knees on the floor, up and down hundreds of times, groan). And the group aspect of my workshops, with people sitting together to work around a table, is currently prohibited by the pandemic. But through the years, creating designs requested by various groups, I have come across inspiring situations and evidence of God’s hand in the outcomes in amazing ways, and I will try to share those along with the images.
In this Gallery, I display images from my work in many categories. Most of the pieces are large, cut from paper that is 9 feet wide and up to 16 feet high. I will try to note the size of each work.
